Abstract
In recent years, investment by destination management organizations (DMOs) in websites has increased substantially. Online marketing activities make up an important part of the operational programs of many DMOs, local, regional and national. The International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT), and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) have agreed to jointly establish a scheme to help DMOs evaluate and benchmark the quality and effectiveness of their web activities and their return on investment. This report is an introduction to the scheme, which is called the UNWTO/IFITT Destination Web Watch.
